Today I’m trying to pick out a decent route down to Baltimore for the convention we’re going to shortly. We had some “fun” trying to adjust our hotel reservation today. Woo-hoo. We ended up booking a second stay and cancelling the first one, all in order to get an extra night tacked on at the start. We’ll leave Thursday morning and get down there in the eveningish.
I’m trying to avoid traffic insanity down through New York and New Jersey by taking some side roads. I was advised to avoid the GW bridge in New York City, thank you to those wonderful advisors.
We’re still a bit torn as to when we should leave. I was tending towards Early O’Clock in the morning, but I’m told that means we’d hit rush hour traffic in nasty places. So maybe we should leave instead at 8 AM, which would get us down to Baltimore at somewhere between 4 PM and 6 PM depending on how many delays we ran into.
My current Google Map route indicates that it’ll take about 9 hours to drive down there. If we leave 2 hours wiggle room, leaving at 8 AM will get us into Baltimore between 4 and 6. We could check into our hotel, have some dinner, and then go pick up our con materials at the Thursday night check in. I think that might be a good bet. Then we wouldn’t have to get up at ugly o’clock either.
Either way it’s going to be a long long day! PHEW. I’m going to stock up on audiobooks and make sure we have very charged ipods!!
