I’ve finished all the squares I need for my first afghan! 56 squares in total. And it turns out that I’ve made them one row too large. If I’d read my directions a bit more carefully I should have done round 4 in the black that I’m using to put it all together. Thankfully this isn’t really a problem as I can just put an extra round on each one. It makes the afghan a little bit larger and I really like the size of the squares a bit larger.
Double plus yay!
That’s all the squares laid out on our bed. I actually did a bit of rearranging of them after Katie and I laid them out there. I got very fussy about what could go where. No colors together with same colors and no pink next to red and the oranges needed to be spaced out. I’m very blessed to have such a patient and helpful wife!
Here’s one more shot, close up of the squares as they’re put together into the first column.
I really love the way the black sets off the bright colors. Jewel tones is what another friend called them/ I really like that. Especially since I wasn’t so sure that the colors would go together well enough to not look awful. I think if I tried to put them right up against each other it wouldn’t work so well. But with the black framing them… perfect!
I hope to have this all done by the end of… this week? Maybe next week. This week might be a little overly ambitious.
